PAUL Cullen reckons Mark Gleeson and Brent Grose produced their best performances for some time in Wolves' 30-12 home win against Hull KR on Sunday.

Both have struggled to hit top form in recent times, with impact hooker Gleeson not even make the bench for Wolves' opening game of the season, while utility back Grose has been hampered by niggling injuries.

But the duo were on song against Hull KR, with Gleeson's constant threat from dummy half persuading Cullen to delay the return to the field of fellow hooker Michael Sullivan, while Grose produced one superb bit of play to prevent a goal-line drop-out.

Cullen said: "To beat Hull KR it took an improved performance from a number of individuals and one of those was Mark Gleeson.

"I thought he had his best game of the season and was absolutely outstanding.

"It was his form that warranted a longer stay on the field than normal. He was absolutely killing them at the ruck.

"And Brent Grose had his best performance for a considerable time.

"He is now over the knee injury that ruined the last seven or eight weeks of last year and the ankle injury that knocked the edge off him at the start of this year."
