Warrington Wolves 30 Hull Kingston Rovers 12.

WARRINGTON Wolves made it 30 wins from 50 Halliwell Jones Stadium appearances with a convincing victory over Super League new boys Hull Kingston Rovers on Sunday.

Wolves went into the clash against in-form Rovers without recognised half backs Lee Briers and Chris Bridge and suffered a further blow in the 17th minute.

Great Britain international Adrian Morley, making his home debut after recovering from the fractured eye socket he sustained in the win at Wigan on February 9, left the field clutching the same side of his face and took no further part in the game.

Despite the setbacks, Wolves took a grip of a bruising encounter and built up a 16-0 lead inside 33 minutes.

A reply from the Robins at the end of the first half did not spoil Wolves' rhythm, though, because they crossed again in the second minute of the second half and ploughed 30-6 ahead before conceding one more try in the final minute.

Wolves went ahead in the seventh minute with right centre Martin Gleeson skipping Jon Goddard's tackle and sending winger Henry Fa'afili over for his fourth try in three games. Hooker Michael Sullivan converted from the touchline.

Martin Gleeson then popped up on the left-hand side of the field to provide the final pass for left centre Paul Johnson to cross in the 27th minute, with scrum half Jon Clarke screwing the conversion attempt across the goal.

Replacement hooker Mark Gleeson's initial break and stand off Vinnie Anderson's offload handed back rower Ben Westwood a walkover between the posts in the 33rd minute and he added the goal points, too.

Rovers scrum half James Webster slipped second rower Jason Netherton over with centre Gareth Morton converting with the last kick of the first half.

Johnson bagged his second try with a stretch from Clarke's pass in the 42nd minute, with Westwood's touchline conversion rebounding out off the post.

A deflected Fa'afili offload fell nicely for second rower Mike Wainwright to run clear and put Clarke over for his second score in the 54th minute, with Clarke converting.

Prop Rob Parker's break set Johnson free and, although he was held up inches short of the line, his quick play-the-ball allowed Clarke to barge over from first receiver while the Rovers defence was still in disarray.

Robins winger Byron Ford completed the scoring in the 79th minute with a try that just kept fourth-placed Rovers ahead of Wolves in the Super League ladder.
