Glossop 2nd 22 Warrington 2nd 20.

WARRINGTON Rugby Union Club's second string were unable to find the knockout punch despite playing the better rugby at Glossop on Saturday.

A scintillating try from Jonathan Hughes and a well-struck penalty from Chris Douglas cut the deficit to two points before Tom Darbyshire seemed to have a legitimate match-winning touch down disallowed.

Warrington's other tries were scored by prop Mike Hadden and winger Paul Yeadon.

* Warrington third team's winning sequence was brought to an end 28-0 at Burnage.

The veteran Burnage forwards refused to allow Warrington's speedy backs the opportunity to show their silky skills.

* Warrington Rugby Union Club's under 11s and under 12s teams were victorious in the Vale of Lune tournament at the weekend.

The under 11s overcame Fylde, Darlington, Ormskirk and Carlisle before beating Widnes 35-0 in the final.

The under 12s were too strong for Blackburn, Fylde, Waterloo and Preston Grasshoppers before beating Burnley 21-5 in the final.
