WARRINGTON Athletics Club's Heather Timmins followed up victory in the UK Inter Counties Cross Country Under 17s Championship with second place in the English National Cross Country Championships on Saturday.

Timmins clinched victory in the UK Inter Counties event in Nottingham two weeks previously and was again Warrington's star as she took the runners up spot in the under 17s race in Sunderland as well as finishing sixth in the under 20s category.

Timmins led Warrington to sixth place in the under 17s age group, with Amy Talbot 60th, Rheannon Rainford 84th and Sophie Stephens 133rd.

Danny Cliffe was Warrington's best male runner of the day, finishing 14th in the under 17s race ahead of Stephen Broadhurst, 18th, Mat Jackson, 44th, and Lawrence Walker, 49th, as the team took the silver medal.

Ryan O'Neill was 61st in the under 13s race and Tom Jervis was 60th in the under 15s category.

Lizzie Heaven was Warrington's first finisher in the under 13s race as she crossed the line in 40th.

Louise Sullivan was 56th in the under 15s section.
