PREMIERSHIP football club Aston Villa have visited Warrington Wolves on a fact-finding mission.

Around 20 members of Villa's coaching staff made their way to Wilderspool during pre-season to study Wolves' coaching techniques and watch an Academy training session, which included work on tackle technique and strength development.

Wolves head coach Paul Cullen and Dave Elliott, who is on the first-team coaching staff as well as being in charge of the under 18s, gave Villa an insight into the club's philosophy and the desire to produce young players for the senior side.

Villa, whose new Academy will cost almost £15million, praised Wolves' development system and were said to be impressed by all they saw during the visit.
