WARRINGTON Town could put 11 points between themselves and the bottom three clubs in the UniBond League First Division this weekend.

Fourth-from-bottom Town travel to Wakefield on Saturday and a win against the fellow strugglers, who are one place below them, could go a long way towards maintaining the club's UniBond League status.

A possible restructure could mean there will be no relegation at the end of the season but Ian Street's men cannot afford to rest on that hope.

And at last, Town, ravaged with injuries during 2007, could have a few faces back on board this weekend after a run of eight games without a win.

Right midfielder Ryan Baker - thought to have been ruled out for the season with a torn hamstring - has declared himself fit, while left midfielder Kevin Hannon is back after an ankle injury and could start at Wakefield.

Midfield dynamo Dave Tickle has served his suspension and club chiefs hope the rest may have eased his groin injury.

Street has also got tough with players this week as he attempts to get Town, who host Clitheroe at Cantilever Park on Tuesday at 7.45pm, back on track.

Striker Chris McDonagh and central defender Liam Coyne, who were both signed from Leigh RMI last week and played in the 2-1 home defeat to Alsager Town on Saturday, were told on Monday that their services were no longer required.

Coyne's clumsy challenge gave away the third penalty in the match and handed Alsager the points, while McDonagh failed to provide the spark up front.

In fact, McDonagh was lucky to stay on the field after bizarrely being booked twice but not shown a red card.

The mark of Town's all-round awful showing in front of goal on Saturday was that they never tested emergency goalkeeper Steve Elks, the central defender who took over in goal at the end of the first half after keeper Bentley Scott left the field with a suspected broken hand.

Yellows have failed to score from open play in their last five outings, with Saturday's goal coming from the penalty spot courtesy of Phil Mitchell.

And just to round off a miserable afternoon for Town, central defender Matty Farrell was sent off in the 91st minute after he was adjudged to have lashed out with a reverse swinging arm.

Town: Karl Wills, Danny Salt, Chris Fitzsimmons, Matty Farrell, Liam Coyne, Chris Jackson, Phil Mitchell, Jordan King, Chris McDonagh (Lee Thompson 61mins), Gary Jensen, Phil Howard. Subs not used: Paul Harris, Kevin Hannon.
