Helsby 20 Eagle 31.

EAGLE coasted to victory against bottom club Helsby in rugby union's South Lancashire/Cheshire Four but coach Graeme Taylor was not entirely happy with the performance of several players.

Eagle darted into a 21-0 lead in the first half but errors allowed Helsby back into the game.

Eagle are not in competitive action until their game against Knutsford on Match 17 but will face Moore in a friendly at the weekend.

Widnes 3rd 24 Eagle 2nd 28.

EAGLE'S second team edged past Widnes' thirds in Miller Homes League Division Five West.

Paul Heath opened the scoring, with Barry Whalley converting, and Bob Astley added two more first-half tries.

Widnes replied to move within two points of Eagle, who entertain table toppers Tyldesley at Thornton Road on Saturday at 2.30pm, but Whalley touched down a try he converted himself to give the visitors a crucial nine-point cushion.
