RICHIE Barnett has been ruled out of Wolves' home match against St Helens after a fitness test showed he was not quite ready to return from his ankle injury.

Barnett damaged ankle ligaments against Bradford three weeks ago but was in contention to return this week after being named in Wolves' 20-man squad.

But the winger has been omitted from the 18-man squad, although Chris Leikvoll has been named after missing Saturday's win at Harlequins with a twisted ankle.

Ben Harrison has also dropped out of the 18-man squad and Wolves have listed him as having returned to Widnes on loan.

Harrison was recalled from his loan spell at The Halton Stadium because of Wolves' injury crisis but that has now eased.

The young forward will not play for Widnes in their Challenge Cup match against Normanton this weekend, though, because Wolves do not want him cup-tied.

Wolves' 18-man squad: Stuart Reardon, Henry Fa'afili, Martin Gleeson, Paul Johnson, Brent Grose, Chris Bridge, Lee Briers, Chris Leikvoll, Jon Clarke, Paul Rauhihi, Ben Westwood, Vinnie Anderson, Mark Gleeson, Rob Parker, Paul Wood, Michael Sullivan, Steve Pickersgill, Mike Wainwright.
