Harlequins u21 22 Wolves u21 10.

WOLVES Senior Academy team's good start to the season faltered with a tough away fixture in the capital.

Harlequins' uncompromising defence and Wolves' dysfunctional attack were the features of the game, with the home team running out comfortable winners in the end.

Quins forced an early mistake and capitalised with the first score after only three minutes, hooker John Sullivan diving over from dummy half.

Minutes later Quins found a hole in the Wolves defensive line and scored again courtesy of Smith, with Dylan Skee adding his second conversion to put the home team 12-0 ahead.

Gary Chambers' boys rallied and started to impose themselves on the game with fine work from Anthony Rourke, Matty Blythe and Tyrone McCarthy and were eventually rewarded with a fine interception try from Andy Moulsdale, which he converted himself.

The second half started badly for Wolves, conceding an early try to centre Tyrone Smith.

Wolves tried valiantly to bring themselves back into the game with a prolonged period of pressure but it was Quins who scored next with another score from Sullivan, again diving over from dummy half.

The conversion from Skee pushed the game further away from Wolves but a late interception try from full back Martyn Ridyard gave them hope.

Unfortunately, there was not enough time to pull it back.
