BRIDGE Foot Police Amateur Boxing Club's Lee Ward prepared for the defence of the Junior ABA Championships with victory at Alford Sports and Social Club on Friday.
Ward became the 46kg champion last May and warmed up for this year's event, which begins this month, by gaining a unanimous decision from the judges in his bout against Scarborough's R Donnie.
Jordan West, who will appear in the schoolboy national finals this month, had a tough encounter against Newbury/Farnworth's S Barrick but showed his class and boxing ability to take a points win.
Sam Gifford got the nod for his cleaner punches and some neat footwork in a close fight with Newbury/Farnworth's K Barrick.
Michael Yule stopped Gemini ABC's S Dolan in the first round on his debut as a fighter, while welterweight Brian Gary took the Boxer of the Night award as he also won in the first round against Sale West's S Forrester.
Cathrine Davies took on Sefton ABC's S Connelly in a kid gloves contest that had no winner, while five other Bridge Foot boxers were on show at the event.
Bridge Foot are next in action at a charity show at The Halliwell Jones Stadium on March 29. Only a few tables remain for the evening and are available on a first come, first served basis.
