WARRINGTON Wizards are expected to hand a debut to Australian stand off Chris Jaffer at Hemel Hempstead Stags on Sunday but they will again be without head coach Danny Lima.
Lima missed the weekend Northern Rail Cup defeat to Bramley Buffaloes because of his playing commitments and will be absent again on Sunday as he lines up for Wakefield in their Super League clash at Hull FC.
But Wizards will still have assistant coach Karl Taylor present and he will be able to hand a first appearance to Jaffer, who has signed from Wollongong side Dapto, while Chris Campbell should be available again after rejoining from Swinton.
After Sunday's narrow 24-20 loss, Wizards, who could also have a couple more new signings on board this weekend, need to win to keep alive their hopes of topping Group Seven and progressing to the last 16.
Taylor said: "Ultimately we fell just short at Bramley, but we must now get back to winning ways at Hemel and make sure we keep on the heels of the Buffaloes.
"The Stags are always a formidable proposition on their own ground but we have the belief in ourselves to get the right result."
* The coach for the Hemel Hempstead game, kick-off 2pm, leaves the Village Hotel at 8.30am. Anyone wanting to travel on the coach can contact Dave Whalley on 837829.
Bramley Buffaloes 24 Warrington Wizards 20 WIZARDS gained a bonus point after being narrowly beaten by last year's National League Three champions Bramley.
Wizards now trail Bramley by two points at the top of Group Seven with three games remaining and went 8-0 down in the early stages of Sunday's game.
Matt Wilson was sent to the sin bin for holding down but when he returned David Yii scored from dummy half to reduce the half-time deficit.
Wizards led after the interval thanks to tries from Mark Robinson and Andy Addison but Bramley hit back to lead 14-12.
Yii capitalised on Wilson's offload to restore Wizards' advantage but again Bramley responded with a try and the hosts then added another to seize control.
Yii completed his hat-trick as Wizards put Bramley under late pressure but they could not get back on level terms.
Wizards: Chris Campbell; Mike Grady, Danny Shaw, Andy Addison, David Yii; Alan Kilshaw, Mark Robinson; Scott Davidson, Liam McCarthy, Neil Smith, Sion Williams, Anthony Beckett, Matt Wilson. Subs: James Mather, Luke Worsley, Simon McEvon, John Molphy.
