RYLANDS cemented their position in the top five of the Mark Norris Building Services North West Counties Amateur Rugby League Premier Division after winning an 11-try thriller against Orrell St James.
The visitors opened up an early 18-6 advantage at Gorsey Lane, with Iain Ratcliffe's try for Rylands converted by Chris Forster.
Mike Lee then raced in for a solo try before half time and Rylands scored three tries in 10 minutes after the interval - James Evans, Carl Lloyd and Jonno Smith all touched down - to move 28-18 in front.
Orrell came storming back with a converted try but Smith scored again for Rylands, who host Barrow Island at Gorsey Lane on Saturday at 2.30pm.
The hosts' lead was reduced to just four points in the closing stages but Forster's penalty extended Rylands' winning margin to six points.
Latchford Albion A 0 Rylands Sharks A 34.
JIMMY Harrison and Danny Hoyland both crossed twice as Rylands A dominated their clash with town rivals Latchford A in Division Six.
Jay Murray and Billy Sheen also touched down for Rylands A, who travel to Warrington IMBRL on Saturday at 2.30pm, with Andy Brindley adding five goals.
