RYLANDS Sharks under 11s rugby league team will be playing at half time at the Gilbert Brutus Stadium when Warrington Wolves play there against Catalans Dragons on April 21.

Eleven-year-old Jon Ainsworth will be one of the Rylands players travelling to Perpignan in France for the game and he says it will be the best match of a three-day tour.

"We'll be representing the town and really the whole of England," he said in a letter to Warrington Guardian.

The team are looking for financial support for the event and a fundraising committee is busy at work.

Jon's father, Andrew, a member of the committee, said: "The French rugby league development officer is looking towards this visit to promote sport in the region, proving the high profile nature of this event.

"This is not a holiday. It is a sporting exchange that will not only develop their sporting skills but also includes civic functions which will further their social skills in representing Warrington to the people of Perpignan.

"Any donation would be greatly appreciated."
