AN ‘absolutely gutted’ Ben Westwood reflected on the moment he thought England were on the way to Old Trafford.
“I got the ball and liked the look of it,” he said about his charge to the try line as Kiwi defenders Simon Mannering and Bryson Goodwin desperately tried to stop him.
“I saw the line, tried to put my arm out and as I did my arm was knocked.
“Those things happen every week in rugby league. I’m proud of what we did out there and I feel we did enough to have won the game.”
At the time, the 70th minute mark, England had their tails up and were leading 18-14.
There would have been no way back for New Zealand.
