NEITHER of Warrington Wolves' selected forwards were happy with the way England's semi-final clash with New Zealand was handled at Wembley on Saturday.
There were times when England were not awarded penalties they felt they should have had from Australian Ben Cummins, while they were sometimes punished when they felt they should not have been.
The penalty count finished 11-7 in the Kiwis' favour, although it was 10-4 at one stage and New Zealand had five on the run at the start of the second half.
Four of the game's six tries came soon after penalty decisions, highlighting the importance of discipline and the referee's calls.
England lost 20-18 with the very last kick of the game, meaning the Kiwis go forward to face Australia in Saturday's World Cup Final at Old Trafford, kick off 2.30pm.
Wolves prop Chris Hill said: "I think we did more than enough to win the game and we were hard done to at times with the refereeing system.
"A bit of inconsistency I think. Decisions either way and he called them different ways.
"That's life, and you've just got to move on."
Clubmate Westwood added: "We put in a good performance and I feel we did enough to win that game but there were a few decisions early in the second half that were questionable.
"We got through that and we came back strongly. I'm really proud of the effort."
