A WARRINGTON Wolves academy player has been picked to be ambassador during the Olympic Games this year.
Joe Philbin, who plays for the Under 18s academy, won the role through good attendance and hard work at Priestley college.
The front rower was also involved in voluntary projects and has proved a role model during his time with the academy side.
Ben Lazenby, player performance manager, said: “We expect all our young players to apply themselves in every aspect of their life with the same enthusiasm and vigour they show towards their rugby development, whether school, college or university, their job and their home-life.
“Joe is a great example to other young sportsmen and women who strive to achieve in their chosen sport as well as in life and a good example of the type of person that we want in the development structures here at Warrington Wolves.”
The 17-year-old, from Glazebury, said: “We want to promote the games to schools so that they can learn about the values associated with them.
“Hopefully the games will be a success and I look forward to a busy and exciting year ahead.”
