A SCHEME to help charities raise money has the backing of Helen Jones MP.

The Warrington North MP spoke out to support the JustTextGiving platform developed by Vodafone on a not-for-profit basis and allows charities and individuals to raise money via text message and provides a free, quick and convenient way to raise essential funds.

She said: “The JustTextGiving service is a great innovation that will provide charities and people in Warrington looking to raise money an easy way of doing so.

“I know several charities in the town already use the service and I would encourage other community groups and people who are raising money for charity to sign up online for the service.”

Donations can be made by customers of any network provider without charges and gift aid can also be claimed on each donation.

Charities in Warrington already using the service include Cheshire Search and Rescue, Mersey Forest Company Ltd, Oasis Warrington, The Community Church Warrington and The Longford Neighbourhood Services Centre.
