WARRINGTON Hospital has cancelled some appointments tomorrow, Wednesday, because of the national public sector strike action.
The hospital has cancelled some non-urgent appointments and surgical procedures due for Wednesday because staff from key areas may be involved in strike action. Patients affected have been contacted.
Many of the hospital support services including radiology, pharmacy, domestic staff, estates and support services are affected. It means that the hospitals will not have the staff in place to support some procedures.
Sheila Samuels, director of organisational development and governance at Warrington and Halton Hospitals, said: “We have a good relationship with our Union colleagues at the hospital and while recognising their right to strike following the national ballots, we have worked to make sure that our essential emergency services are able to run as usual where possible.
"Unfortunately, there will be disruption to non-emergency care on the day. Our ability to provide support services that are needed for some appointments and procedures will unfortunately be affected.
"We have contacted patients who will be affected by this in advance.”
Meanwhile Network Warrington has confirmed its buses will be running tomorrow - school services will be cancelled.
