TWO men have been arrested and bailed after an armed robbery last week led to an heroic post office manager losing part of his finger.
Detectives are continuing their appeal for witnesses after the pair, one armed with a machete, entered Glazebrook post office, Glazebrook Lane, last Monday at 12.30pm and demanded cash.
Peter Dodd attempted to stop the thieves after the pair threatened Margaret Bloor, aged 80.
The offenders removed cash from an open till and fled the scene into a silver Volkswagen driven by a third man waiting outside.
The car was later found abandoned outside Irlam medical centre on Liverpool Road.
Anyone with information should call Cheshire Police on 0845 458 0000 quoting incident number 390 of October 3 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
The pair, a 25-year-old man from Irlam and a 20-year-old from Manchester who were both arrested, have been bailed by police until November.
