POPULAR Poulton North Clr Colin Oliver has died after suffering a massive heart attack.
He passed away at his home on Canada Close in Fearnhead on Friday night.
His death comes just weeks after he regained his seat in Poulton North for the Lib Dems following the by-election in July.
Clr Oliver had spoken of concentrating on his health after losing that seat in May.
But his passion to help the community saw the chairman of Poulton with Fearnhead parish council resume duties two months later.
During his time as ward councillor he lead numerous campaigns including the battle to keep Longbarn Primary School open, fighting to resurface and maintain Fearnhead Lane and securing funding to improve green areas such as Enfield Park and the Brick Pits.
Two groups in memory of Clr Oliver have been set up on Facebook with tributes from colleagues, friends and residents pouring in.
A two minute silence in honour of the family man will be held at Fearnhead Cross Community Centre today at 4.45pm.
See Thursday’s Guardian for a full tribute.
