SCHOOL is out for good for a head teacher in Howley after 36 years.
Neil Walsh retired at the end of term at St Elphin’s CE Primary School.
During his time there he oversaw the move from the school’s former base at Fairfield Street to its new location on Farrell Street.
The 66-year-old began his educational career at Burtonwood Primary School, gaining a promotion to deputy head before taking over the reins at the school. Mr Walsh was also awarded an MBE for his services to teaching in 1998.
Chairman of the govenors, the Rev Canon Michael Finlay said: “We acknowledge with thanks the hard work and dedication that both Mr and Mrs Walsh have given to the school.”
