GOLFERS will soon be teeing off in style after a £250,000 revamp at Walton's golf course.
To get the best from Warrington Borough Council's cash injection, experts have been enlisted for the development at Walton Hall's 18-hole course.
Golf club captain John Diprose said: "It is pleasing to see that this council is supporting users of the course and that it is committed to the long-term success of this increasingly popular sport."
Specialists from a leading national golf consultancy, Sports Turf Research Institute, will produce a masterplan to modernise and maintain the course in the future.
Clr Graham Welborn, Warrington Borough Council's executive board member for safer and greener communities, said: "We have listened to the users when discussing plans for the golf course and I am confident they will be happy with the results.
"Walton Hall golf course has a great membership, including junior, senior and ladies sections, and this development will help by increasing the quality of the course and the time the course is open for play in the spring and autumn months."
In recent years, the Walton Lea Road golf course has suffered from drainage problems, which has affected the quality of play for golfers.
Despite upkeep issues, it has remained one of the top municipal courses in the country.
The developers have pledged to work closely with players at the course to make sure their views are taken into consideration for its new look.
