AUGUST was a washout compared to blazing July.
Warrington had 40 per cent more rain than average in August, and particularly bad spells like last Thursday produced localised flooding, as pictured here in Victoria Park.
There was 100.5mm of rain (around four inches) which compared to just 17mm in July, which was the hottest July on record for Warrington and for the whole country.
The amount of sunlight plunged as well - The Met Office said there were 134 sun hours, compared to 290 in July.
It was not that August was a bad month - it just compared badly to a record-breaking July. The rain and sunshine hours were only a bit worse than normal.
