RESIDENTS of Great Sankey North had their first community action meeting at Tim Parry Community Centre on Thursday.

The meetings are held so residents can let the police know what their top crime concerns are and the police can let the residents know what they have been up to.

Colin Cheshire, beat community support officer, said: "Despite the rain, 14 residents turned up and the top issue was under age drinking - namely the problem of adults buying alcohol for under 18s, which has been a difficult problem to tackle.

"Other issues raised were having a gate on both entrances to the Tim Parry recreation area and the issue of vehicles speeding down Park Road and parking too near to junctions.

"We will be targeting the adults that are buying the alcohol for these youths and fines will given out accordingly."
