SAM Barnett was plucked from the crowd to play a guitar solo that earned him £1,200 on a TV talent show.
The 16-year-old performed Guns N Roses' Sweet Child O' Mine on BBC2s Let Me Entertain You last Thursday and Friday.
The Callands resident was sent to play by his grandfather. The first Sam knew about it was when host Brian Connelly came up into the audience to speak to him.
Sam, who has just completed his GCSEs at Great Sankey High School, then won £1,000 by playing for the full three minutes without more than half the crowd voting for him to leave the stage.
He came back the next day for the weekly final and won another £200 by staying on for two-and-half-minutes.
"I couldn't believe it happened," said Sam, from Langland Close, who is starting a railway and train engineering scholarship.
"I was a bit nervous and I couldn't play my best the first time. But I wanted to go because my granddad had paid a lot to buy the tickets."
Sam, who plays gigs around Warrington in the band Phoenix alongside his dad, Lloyd, is a massive Guns NRoses fan.
The TV show was recorded a few weeks ago and his family and friends had a party at home when it was broadcast.
