HISTORY now has a permanent place in a Padgate School following the official opening of a new extension.
A new library and corridor have been added to St Oswald's RC Primary School in honour of a very special person.
The Wakefield Way' corridor has been named after Austin Wakefield who also presided over its opening ceremony.
Mr Wakefield was the first pupil to be registered at St Oswald's when the school opened in 1931. He is also the school's longest serving governor of 31 years.
During the ceremony head teacher, Helen Lennon, thanked Mr Wakefield for his loyalty and support.
She also paid tribute to the late Henry Hayes whose financial support to the school allowed the new library and corridor to be built.
Mrs Lennon said: "The kindness of both Mr Wakefield and Mr Hayes will be enjoyed for years to come by the children and staff at the school through this new extension."
