A CULTURAL family fun day is coming to Palmyra Square this summer.
Warrington Ethnic Communities Association (WECA) is teaming up with Golden Gates Housing Trust (GGHT) and Warrington Borough Council to organise the first Mela, a traditional Asian festival, in July.
The event will be a showcase of dancers, national dishes, music and fashion from countries all over the world, representing the diverse range of cultures in Warrington.
Mr Ps Tatla, who is a member of WECA and co-organiser of the event, said: “Although Melas are traditionally an Asian celebratory festival, the Warrington Mela will involve and represent all ethnicities living in Warrington.”
Dance performances on the day will include Polish school children and traditional Indian dances. There will be a range of music all day, including the playing of traditional instruments and a DJ, as well as stalls of dishes from different countries to try.
There will be a range of activities for all the family.
The Mela, which is free, is at the Parr Hall and Queens Gardens on Sunday, July 24 from 11am to 5pm.
