One of the things that continually annoys me is how most of the acts in the Eurovision sing in English.
I have always viewed the Eurovision as an opportunity for different countries to show their diversity and their culture.
Surely, a big part of culture is language.
I know that some of them may well sing in English believing that it is the only way to commercial success but it seems a shame as it shouldn't have to be that way.
If the acts just want to sing in English that's fair enough.
But mostly, I imagine they feel that they have to sing in English to have any chance of winning.
In 1988, the then unknown Celine Dion sang in French for Switzerland and has since gone on to become a success in the music industry.
Expression in a language you are comfortable with will always resonate more, with me at least.
I hope next year different languages can be celebrated but I think it's just going to get worse.
