THE councillors to take the top jobs in the new look Town Hall can be revealed.
Senior Labour officials and councillors met on Monday afternoon to thrash out who would take each position.
Clr Terry O’Neill (Burtonwood and WInwick) will be council leader and Clr Mike Hannan (Orford) will be deputy.
All roles will have to be formally voted on at the annual council meeting on May 23.
Other high profile roles go to Peter Carey (Fairfield and Howley) who takes over finance, and former Mayor Clr Linda Dirir (transport).
Two new posts on the executive board which runs the council have been created, Hitesh Patel (Great Sankey South) as personnel and communications and Russ Bowden (Birchwood) as corporate assignments.
Clr O’Neill said: “We believe we have a good mix of youth and experience.
“Hitesh has an important role as we see communications as a key element of the new authority as we look at how people can access services in a different way.
“Especially for young people who will use new technology and IT.
“Russ will look at how to deliver services in a modern way. We want to be a modern local authority."
