WARRINGTON Male Voice Choir will be joined by the Leyland Band for a special evening of choral and brass music next Saturday, May 21 at the Parr Hall.
As well as being a great night for music, the 'Gwahoddiad - the invitation' concert will also remember former choir secretary and vice president Angus Thorburn, who sadly died last October, after a long illness.
Angus was closely involved with the sponsorship of both choir and band by BNFL during the early 1990s. The BNFL name may have gone but the music lives on, as do the memories.
The evening will be hosted by Bob Williams who, having worked with Angus at BNFL is delighted the concert is being staged.
He said: “For a start the evening will be a great welcome home for the choir, having recently returned from a concert tour to the Isle of Man where they raised £5,000 for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity (Royal Centre for Defence Medicine Fund).
“We’re also delighted we will be joined by Angus’s family and friends, not to mention the superb Richard Evans who will be conducting the band, with his well known style and charisma, which delighted many an audience during those BNFL choir/band concerts in the 1990s.
“All in all it promises to be a great night.”
Tickets priced at just £10 are still available from Ralph Cooper on 263951.
