THE future of the historic Garnett’s Water Tower is likely to be decided on Thursday.

Developers have submitted a plan to Warrington Borough Council to demolish the tower and surrounding buildings and replace it with a temporary car park.

But objectors say the building is crucial to the heritage of the town centre.

The decision was due to have been made last month but a late change in planning law meant a new application needed to be submitted.

Councillors will discuss the blueprints at a meeting of the development control committee in the Town Hall on Thursday. The meeting starts at 6.30pm.
