EXPERTS from the rugby football league will visit Warrington later this month to assess the town ahead of deciding where games for the 2013 World Cup will be held.
A group of representatives from the Rugby Football League will visit the town on May 24 before decisions are made about where matches will be staged.
Warrington is hoping to use The Halliwell Jones Stadium to play matches.
Jan Souness, assistant director for neighbourhood and cultural services at Warrington Borough Council, said: “Following our bid for the 2013 Rugby League World Cup, I am delighted to announce that representatives from the rugby football league will be visiting Warrington.
“They will be taken on a full-day tour which will form part of their assessment of our bid.
“More details will follow but in the meantime we would ask that you show your support by signing our e-petition.
“Just go to warrington.gov.uk/rugby, click on ‘signatures’ then ‘sign petition’. It couldn’t be easier to add your name and back the bid.”
