STAFF at Warrington Hospital are getting ready to celebrate International Nurses Day next Thursday, May 12, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth.
The theme of this year’s event is ‘Closing the Gap: Increasing Access and Equity’ with Warrington nurses focusing on taking pride in their jobs.
Director of nursing David Melia said: “We want to promote the positive work that our nurses do and how they support the hospital. They work extremely hard and this is way of recognising that and saying thank you.
“The majority of nurses are proud to be called that and it’s important that nursing is seen as fundamental to the way the trust is run.”
To mark the day there will be a number of promotional stands dotted around the hospital so people can find out more about what nurses do, such as ward work and managing people with long-term conditions.
People can come along to the hospital’s main entrance from 10am to 3pm on the day to find out more.
