PENKETH Bowling Club held an open day to try and attract new blood'.
The club won £900 in grants to buy bowls for younger players and invited them down to the club off The Park.
Around 20 youths turned up, a bit less than the club hoped for, but Les Mason from the club said the event went "very well".
He said: "We did it to make children aware of bowling and because most people in the club are getting older and we need new blood.
"Some of them were really enthusiastic about it.
"We pulled in some mums and dads as well, and they are in the right age bracket because they are younger than a lot of our players."
The club hopes to put on a similar event next year. The grant money came from Warrington Sports Forum and Warrington Charities Trust.
