PEOPLE working in Warrington's tourism industry are being encouraged to follow in a museum worker's footsteps.

Businesses are being invited to nominate their top performers for the 2006 Cheshire Awards for Tourism Skills.

Last year's awards provided a major boost for Colin Taylor, of Warrington Library Museum and Archive Service.

He was won the CATS Unsung Hero accolade and is encouraging people to follow him.

He said: "I have been lucky to have the same job for 41 years, which has been fascinating, full of interest, variety and, at times, led to more excitement that one would ever imagine.

"I was really stunned to hear my name announced winner of the Unsung Hero section at CATS award evening, as to me, I was only doing my job. I am so pleased that my line manager cajoled me into letting my name be put forward."

Richard Daly, Visit Chester and Cheshire tourism skills officer, added: "Philip, in common with all the other winners, gained a great deal of prestige and confidence from his achievement.

"I hope that employers and managers of new and established tourism-related businesses will help ensure a record entry for third year's awards."

Nomination forms will be distributed next week September 4. The closing date is Friday, October 6.

Application forms are available from Richard Daly, Visit Chester and Cheshire, by calling 01244 346543 or can be downloaded from cwtb.co.uk
