SAND sculptures, guest stars and the final of Mr and Miss Warrington Guardian.

It's all at the Golden Square Shopping Centre this weekend.

Sunday is the final day of the summer-long Seaside Sundays promotion.

The highlight of the show will be the Mr and Miss Warrington Guardian final when four hopefuls of each sex - to be announced in this Thursday's paper - will battle it out for the prestigious prize.

With phone lines now closed, the tension is mounting.

The event coincides with the Wire FM birthday and includes the extraordinary work of sand sculptor Jamie Wardley.

The West Yorkshire man will create a replica of Botticelli's The Birth of Venus.

Visitors will be able to watch him create the magic, which will be the first of its kind to be made in the north of England.

Ian Cox, marketing manager for Golden Square, said: "We want to bring a little bit of the seaside to the people of Warrington so they can enjoy the summer and all the fun associated with the seaside."

Mr Cox added: "We also realise that the school holidays can be a struggle for parents trying to find activities to entertain their children.

"Seaside Sundays offers fun for all the family right on their doorstep and all for free."
