A FAMILY fun day in Oakwood has been hailed a success.
The event, held earlier this month, was organised by Frontis homes and was held to raise public awareness about improvements planned for the area.
Oakwood Neighbourhood Association was also in attendance to stage the fun activities that included a magic act and face painting along with the DJ who between them entertained the children for the afternoon.
The association provided free dinks and the owners of the Nelson's Quarterdeck Pub held a free barbecue and also staged a bungee jump in the car park.
An Oakwood Neighbourhood Association spokesman said: "It was unanimously agreed that the day had been a major success and we will consider staging similar events in the future.
"We want to thank Bernadette Bell from Frontis and the owners of the pub for their huge effort, without which the day wouldn't have been anything like the success."
The next meeting of the association is on the September 13 at the school on Admirals Road. Residents are welcome to go along. Its AGM will be held on October 18 at the same place. Both meetings start at 7pm.
