IT is more than simply athletics or swimming but youngsters in Lymm enjoyed a summer Olympics of their own.

Fifty primary and secondary school pupils joined together at Lymm High School to enjoy seven days of foreign language tuition and sport in the form of a mini Olympics summer challenge.

Michael Scott, challenge director, said: "The challenge allows students the chance to push themselves to the limit and try out new, innovative ways of learning.

"We are studying everything from EU stereotypes to Picasso-style self-portraits and from trampolining techniques to a mini Olympics.

"It is a delight to see such dedicated and talented youngsters working with great enthusiasm during their summer holiday."

The youngsters graduated in style with a ceremony at the end of the challenge.
