A BATTLE of the bands competition is partly being staged in Penketh.
Two heats of Merseyrock will be staged at the British Legion in Greystone Road on Friday, September 15, October 13, and a semi-final on January 12.
Last year's winners, The Chimneys from Widnes, received two days' recording time in a studio in Stockport and the organisers estimate around 2,000 people attended the events.
