FIREFIGHTERS spent nearly two hours trying to release a motorist left trapped after a road accident on Thursday.
Crews were sent from Warrington and Runcorn fire stations to junction 11 and 10 on the M56 eastbound shortly before 5pm.
They found one saloon car to be involved.
A man was trapped, and a spokesman for Cheshire Fire Service said the release of the injured motorist was prolonged and difficult.
It took the crews approximately one hour and 45 minutes to release the casualty.
He was then taken to hospital by ambulance.
