A WOMAN of great commitment and selfless service' has stepped down from Warrington Magistrates Court after 23 years.
Audrey Senior was the first employee of Warrington Borough Council to be elected to the bench in 1983 and specialised in youth court.
She retired following a service last week, and Peter Laycock, chairman of the bench, said she would be missed by all her friends and colleagues. He said: "When you think of commitment and selfless service, you think of Audrey Senior.
"In recent years she has not been in the best of health but I have known that if at all possible she would fulfil 10 sittings or more."
As well as her work as a magistrate, she has been a school governor, trustee of Age Concern and a lay assessor for the National Health Service.
