POLICE officer Wayne Mitchell has won an appeal against a conviction for assaulting his wife.
The Greater Manchester Police officer had his appeal heard at Chester Crown Court on Monday, and was also awarded costs.
The 33-year-old was originally found guilty of assaulting his partner, Jeanette, at their home in Tunbridge Close, Westbrook.
Mr Mitchell has been a policeman for 10 years.
Mrs Mitchell told the original trial he assaulted her and put her in a headlock. Mitchell said the bruises were down to a scuffle for a mobile phone during an argument that also left him with a scratched arm and a bruised elbow.
