A MAN and woman fled their home during an arson attack on Grasmere Avenue.
The 52-year-old and his 25-year-old companion escaped the blaze when the fire alarm went off at 3am last Wednesday.
A spokesman for Warrington Police said: "A joint investigation has been carried out by police and Cheshire Fire Service and it is believed this fire was started intentionally.
"It is also thought if the fire alarm had not gone off it could have been a lot worse."
The pair, who were asleep in the living room at the time, woke to find the blaze in the bedroom of the ground floor flat.
