YOUNG people in Warrington have been splashing about this summer.

Warrington Youth Service has arranged a number of activities for vulnerable youths this month. A small mere off Delph Lane near Winwick was the venue for canoeing, sailing and raft building on which the youngsters were under the watchful eye of qualified instructors.

Clr Shelia Woodyatt, executive member for children's services, said: "Young people have had a great time learning new skills and team work."

Other activities going on this summer have been DJ sessions, board and bike coaching at Victoria Park skate park, quad biking, graffiti painting, bowling, ice skating and an adventure trail to encourage team building and initiative.

The groups also had sessions on drugs and alcohol misuse, sexual health, self awareness and personal development.
