SHE'S the queen of experimenting- as much with music as the fashion stakes.

But with Creamfields firmly rooted in dance music how will the glamorous electro sounds of Alison Goldfrapp fit in to this summer's festival in Daresbury.

The Warrington Guardian found out from the singer herself.

lSo how different is an event like this to doing a Goldfrapp gig?

"It's very different. We've just been doing a load of festivals in Europe actually and, while the travel's a bit of a pain in we do love these kind of dates.

"What's really nice about them is that you're playing to a wide range of people and you're aware that some of the crowd might not have even heard of you.

"So the whole thing feels quite fresh and new.

"It's also more relaxed - there's not the same amount of pressure as you know that people are already up for a good time and up for hearing all these different styles of music.

lWill you be taking time out to soak up the atmosphere?

"Yeah, we'll probably arrive early and hang out with some of the other artists.

"English festivals are really unique: you get a real mixture of artists and, for us, it's great to be a part of those kind of events."

lHow important to you is it that an event like Creamfields has such a diverse array of styles ?

"It's brilliant that audiences are embracing that. It makes music much more exciting.

"It's now acceptable that a band like us can mix up different genres, influences and rhythms, there aren't really any rules.

"Still, it's interesting that people are curious to see how we can work tracks from Felt Mountain in with tracks from Supernature when we think that they actually go very well together. "

l Besides the fact that Creamfields also boasts appearances from the likes of The Zutons, it's widely acknowledged as a dance' event. Does this influence your set?

"I really like The Zutons - I think they're charming. But no we really just do whatever we do, wherever we are. "Whether we're playing next to Depeche Mode, Placebo or The Prodigy.

"And music is either good or bad - it's irrelevant how else you choose to categorise it.

lAny new Goldfrapp material on the way?

"I really want to work on some new tracks but we don't have the time right now. It's not like we can sit on a tour bus with a guitar and bang out some new tunes. I have my Dictaphone with me all the time but I usually need to be completely focussed on the project."
