THINK dance music and the headline grabbing Prodigy spring to mind.

Recently voted best dance band in the world' it seems only fitting that they will grabbing the top spot on Creamfield's main stage in Daresbury.

And front man Liam Howlett let the revellers what to expect this summer.

L Are you, Keith and Maxim going to be making a day of it at the festival?

"Oh yeah. We always try to take it all in. Inspiration can come from anywhere and it's good for us to see and hear what else is going on."

L When was the last time you played around here?

"It's not been for a while. We played loads up there back in the day. I'm looking forward to getting back.

"Only now we're actually out of the country a lot. We probably play two dates abroad almost every week and that's good as you get to see the other scenes - the parties and the clubs. Japan's crowds are cool. The Irish know how to party.

"As far as England goes, I think that different cities aren't really that radically different in terms of their clubs anymore."

L Were last year's festival dates were a turning point for The Prodigy?

"What it boils down to is that we were really fired-up for those shows. We'd been through a really weird period. Between 2000 and 2003, we were barely talking to each other.

"It's fair to say that we didn't even know if we liked each other anymore. But then we were friends again and I think that's been obvious in the way that we've since performed as a band. Right now, the band's in good shape."

L What about new material?

"We're currently just getting ideas together but there has been some work done in the studio.

"All I can say is, so far, it's sounding pretty fast. And it's too early - it's far from being finished - to do any of this stuff live.

"So we won't be doing any of that at this year's Creamfields."
