THE heat is on for Warrington DJ Dave Buck as he prepares to cycle 900 miles for charity.

Dave, of Eustace Street, will set out from Land's End to John O' Groats next Monday, in a bid to raise more than £1,000 for St Rocco's Hospice.

He chose to complete the seven-day challenge in aid of St Rocco's after a number of relatives were looked after there.

Dave, aged 45, said: "The last time I did this was 16 years ago, so I've been doing some serious training. I'm looking forward to it but it will be a challenge. I chose St Rocco's because cancer has touched my family on a number of occasions, and on those occasions, both the sufferers and family have needed care, compassion and support. All of these things are provided at St Rocco's and, while I am physically fit and able, it is time to repay the kindnesses that the hospice has given myself and my family through these difficult times."

Dave is hoping to get help and sponsorship for his challenge from local businesses to help cover the cost of his outgoings.

He adds: "I really need money to help cover costs like petrol for a back up vehicle and lodging expenses.

"St Rocco's Hospice belongs to the people of Warrington. They are always there for those who need them.

"Please help them to continue providing their care."
