A TEEN vandal arrested after massive damage was caused to a train returning to Widnes from a Warrington nightclub has escaped with a fine.
The 15-year-old was fined £35 and ordered to pay £25 costs after admitting causing some criminal damage on the Liverpool-bound service in April.
The charge only relates to the breaking of a glass panel holding an emergency hammer.
Almost £4,500 of damage was caused in total when teen revellers, returning from a junior disco at Mr Smith's nightclub, ran amok, smashing windows, letting off fire extinguishers and intimidating passengers.
The rampage, by up to 150 drunken youths, forced the Northern Rail train to terminate at Hough Green station because it was in no fit state to continue.
British Transport Police have vowed to take further action against anyone else implicated in the April 12 incident, but say that despite widespread publicity only a very small amount' of the 200 passengers on board have come forward with information.
