WHEN Warrington Collegiate vacated its information technology room at the Hawthorn Centre last week there was no need for a removal van.

All the equipment was left behind for the new tenant; the UK's leading learning disability charity, Mencap.

The Hawthorn Centre, on Orange Grove, Blackbrook, has housed the collegiate's IT room since it first opened, but with Mencap taking over the use of the room from September, the collegiate donated its computers, printers and scanners to the charity.

Janice Snape, the collegiate's community skills for life co-ordinator arranged the handover and said: "We're really pleased about the handover. We know the equipment will be well used by Mencap and it's great to know various community groups will be benefiting too."
