FIDLER'S Ferry sailing club recently held its annual open day with a visit from the Mayor of Warrington, Clr Lind Dirir.
The commodore led a fleet of dinghies down the Mersey and the boat to make it furthest upstream before high tide won a bottle of whiskey.
The official party later went up river almost as far as Bridge Foot before returning to the club off Station Road for a buffet.
A club spokesman said: "The mayor presented prizes for both events and a proposed a toast to Fidler's Ferry Sailing Club, Penketh, indeed Warrington's, best kept secret'."
